instrument instructor
Provide technical skill-based instrument lessons to students. Instructors will work with middle school aged students in a small group teaching atmosphere. Instruction will also include teaching about the local and national historical perspective of women in music and the roles they have played throughout time. The ideal instructor will have a passion for teaching skills to empower students to feel confident and able to use their voice for positive change in their community! Reports to Operations Manager, Executive Director.
Pay rate: $45/hr for 1-on-1 Instrument Instruction, $60/hr for Group Instruction
Job Duties:
Prepare lessons - including some music theory and practical techniques - using the OGR Education Guidebook and in collaboration with staff
Motivate students and encourage progress
Assess students’ abilities, providing positive and appropriate feedback
Support in arranging a recital performance
Communicate with staff on scheduling changes and behavior of students
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with students in a learning capacity
Experience with instrument of instruction in playing or teaching
Availability during after school hours: Monday-Friday, 4:00p-8:00p, Saturday 12p-5p
Consistent attendance
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Music degree in instruments of instruction (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Drums, Keyboards)
Teaching qualification or teaching experience
Experience volunteering with Omaha Girls Rock
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Ability to motivate
Enthusiasm/Imagination/Passion
